Medal Artists New Zealand: Origins

Overview

This exhibition celebrates the existence of the Medal Art New Zealand Group for 35 years.

In 2015 the Group acknowledged their 25th year with a retrospective exhibition at the Pah Homestead, renamed Art House. The purpose of that exhibition was to 'Regroup, Reflect and Regenerate'

They honoured their ‘origins’ and founders - celebrating their long journey by showcasing their achievements. At the time, the group organisers began to realise that among their members and guests there was a particularly strong level of commitment, skills and affinity with the genre. This strength was illustrated by numerous commissions and purchases by various museums and public institutions. It was a time to celebrate as fellow artists and acknowledge the level of creative intelligence and skill accomplished by them.

In 2025, for their 35th year, they have initiated a special FOCUS ARTIST space, which will continue at their future exhibitions. The inaugural FOCUS ARTIST is Michael Reed with his so-far completed prints and art medals of the Behrouz Boochani Suite
