“Miso and sesame sourdough bread was the starting point for this work. 

My friend Angie who makes bread, has a dream of opening her own bakery. I hope her dream can become a reality because getting her bread every week brings happiness into our house. It’s the very best bread I’ve ever eaten (and I love good bread). 

Angie is a kind and effervescent person and so I wanted to bring her energy into the painting. On this delicious bread I’ve been experimenting with incredible sandwich fillings, so this painting had a lot of work to complete - to remind me of the bread, the baker and the flavours layered in between. I think I achieved it, it’s complex and comforting (just as every loaf should be).”
