FATU FEU'U: Vai Manino
Feu'u is an internationally recognised Samoan-New Zealand artist, who has been pivotal in shaping the interest in contemporary Pacific art as well as nurturing a generation of Pacific artists locally. Feu’u interprets all that is around him - evident through his progressive series' of works that reference oral histories, myths, conservation, traditions and political events relating to his homeland Samoa.
Two works in this exhibition reference “Pacific Conference” which refers to the need for the Pacific Nations to rally together to protest climate change. These works depict the ancient Pacific Gods and creatures of our oceans joining this march in unison. In October 2024 more than twenty nations are meeting in Samoa to find a way forward.
