From the artist: "When the much awaiting fig season arrives, I'm motivated to find a new recipes that allow figs to be the hero ingredient. This year I was gifted a recipe of preserved fig, walnut, orange and rosemary. There was pleasure in the making, followed by pleasure in the sharing. I think cooking and painting have a lot in common, but especially in this end part of the process - the sharing. For the viewer, the painting might not convey my love of ingredients, but the viewer will no doubt see the joy in the making. Within the intricate mark marking or expressive gestural lines. Like the chef that works hard to bring pleasure to the consumer, the artist shares their inner passion in the hope it might resonate with the viewer."
