George Savill

George Savill is a contemporary New Zealand artist renowned for his bold and expressive. He joined ARTIS Gallery in February 2023 and his first solo exhibition, Arrangement, opened in the Gallery on Tuesday May 23rd.

With a penchant for repurposing old frames, Savill’s compositions spill out of the picture plane, creating a sense of freedom and movement.

In this new series of floral works – peonies, hydrangeas, myrtle, poppies and clover, are just some of the flowers he has incorporated into this exhibition. His innovative approach to composition pushes the boundaries of traditional still-life paintings.

Savill has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions across the globe; including ARTIS Gallery, Auckland, Wilson & Dorset, Wanaka, George Perry Gallery, Tauranga, Kozminsky Gallery, Melbourne and Gallerie Martini in Hong Kong.
