The Leaves in the Wind
Kahu, a harrier hawk, was circling above the wasteland of a disused railway siding where he went each day, hoping to spy some small creature to prey upon. Just as he was about to swoop on a mouse, he was distracted by what appeared, far off, to be a great flock of birds. He watched as the shapes came nearer and could see that, although they may not be the great flock he was hoping for, it might, nonetheless, prove a meal worth fixing his eye on. As they fluttered even closer, however, the hawk could see they were only wind-blown leaves – and the mouse had escaped.
