“I decided to go back in time and use this circle-within-circle as the ‘marker’ of my place – Heretaunga, my turangawaewae. This piece of rimu is one small piece of skirting board that came out of the AMP Building which is situated on the corner of Hastings and Browning Streets in Napier. “
“I began making and casting bronze medallions 20 years ago. Being able to touch and fondle the piece has always been as great an attraction to me as the sheer longevity and historicity of the art-form.”
