CHINESE NEW YEAR
Parnell – Year of the Monkey Celebrations
2016 is the Year of the Monkey and Parnell Inc. has created a unique exhibition to honour Chinese New Year.
28 of New Zealand’s local and internationally recognised artists and celebrities have added their creative touches and artistic flair to a monkey sculpture! Their inspirations in creating their monkey tell a story in itself as each piece has taken on it’s own personality. Art galleries, jewellery stores and decor outlets along Parnell Road will be exhibiting the colourful and highly original art pieces from February 6 to 21. The monkeys will then be auctioned off for The Starship Foundation.
ARTIS Gallery is contributing four monkeys by three of our represented artists to the event. Te Rangi by Justin Boroughs and Singe de Versailles by Nicky Foreman will be on display at ARTIS while Anah Dunsheath’s Roly & Merc are on display at Dawson & Co on The Strand.
The main monkey ‘sanctuary’ will be along Parnell Road between 56-536 Parnell Road, with a ‘mini sanctuary’ at 99-115 The Strand.
