Pamela Wolfe has expanded her painting to include tropical plants in this exhibition of new work, Natural Selection. Working on her usual large format canvas, Wolfe has created works that feature an explosion of colour, texture and form. Parrot tulips, waterlilies, hydrangeas, poppies and amaryllis all vie for space on the painting surface. The lusciousness of the petals are boldly enhanced by their stark contrast against a deep tenebrous ground and the considered placement of pieces of fruit.
With some works measuring over two meters, these are paintings with a presence.
